IIT -M Zanzibar LAUNCHES
M.Tech IN OCEAN STRUCTURES
IIT Madras' Zanzibar campus has launched an M Tech programme in ocean structures for 2024-25. The programme comes with two streams
"offshore and ship structures" and "port harbour and coastal structures."
Stream selection will be based on cumulative grade points average obtained by students at the end of first semester:
The course will cover the basics of marine and offshore hydrodynamics, structural design for oil and gas exploration off shore platforms, ports, harbours including port structures and breakwater.
It will prepare them for careers in the oil and gas and maritime sectors. The curriculum will be tailor made to the industry needs in the oil and gas and maritime sector:
While first, second and fourth semesters will be conducted on the IIT-M Zanzibar cam pus, the third semester will be held on the IIT Madras - Chennai campus.
ELIGIBILITY
Those having a four-year UG degree in civil engineering with a minimum of 60% marks are eligible to apply

SELECTION PROCEDURE
Selection will be based on marks obtained in UG (50% weightage) and screening test &
interview (50% weightage).
Personal interview will be conducted for students clearing the screening test.
The screening test and interviews will be conducted online.
Screening tests will be conducted on June 30 and admission letters will be issued from July 15.
IIT Madras Zanzibar is the first ever international campus of an IIT and classes commenced last year.
It offers BS and MTech in data science and AL.
