Craze for AI intense: 2 lakh students apply for engineering counselling
Engineering Industry experts say more opportunities could drive the interest in engineering education. "We are going to see more technology touching all aspects of our life, and not less.
In this context, with companies across industries such as electronics, semiconductors, defence, space and
biosciences making a beeline for India, lot more opportunities are going to be made available to STEM graduates.
This is what is driving continued interest in engineering education
"Due to generative Al tools like Chat GPT, there is an increased awareness about Al and computer related courses. Computer related subjects are also promoted in schools which could have increased the interest among Class XII students."
Al has brought a boom to engineering education.
Career consultants said the emerging technologies and the declining interest in basic science courses such as BSc maths and BSc physics could have resulted in more applications for engineering counselling.
They also said the interest.could be more due to availability of more seats in computer related branches. All India Council for Tech nical Education (AICTE) has removed the cap for engineer ing seats for 2024-25
