SPORTS QUOTA ADMISSION IN IIT-M

IIT Madras has started its sports excellence admission process under which two sportspeople will be given admission to every UG course in supernumerary seats. One of the seats in each department is reserved for a sportswoman.

Students have to qualify JEE (Advanced) exam to get admission under this quota. The admission will be conducted through a separate portal created by IIT-M, and not through the Joint Seat Allocation authority portal.

Eligibility 

Candidates who made it to common rank list or category-wise rank list in JEE (Advanced) 2024 and have won at least one medal in any national/international-level sports. competition in the past four years can apply

 A sports rank list will be prepared based on the candidates' performance in a variety of sports for. Seat allotment.

IIT-M is the first among IIT's to introduce a separate quota for sportspersons. 

 IIT-M has added many sports-related electives. It has state-of-the-art sports infrastructure besides research facilities. This includes Centre of Excellence in Sports Science and Analytics, which delivers high quality sports science and education courses. It's developing sports coaching products targeted at students and coaches through collaborations.
